Gravel Ridge Firearms LLC conducts several Minnesota Permit to Carry Classes each year. We provide the most up to date information and training on statutory and case law, use of force topics, current social trends, and firearm tactics in the area. Classes are taught by Local Law Enforcement Officers. Our goal is to educate students in all aspects of handling a firearm. When the student leaves class, we want them to feel confident, safe, and excited to carry their firearm. All classes are held in a small class setting, usually under 15 students. Classes are scheduled when a minimum of 5 students are signed-up to take the course. The Class will cover all information required by the Minnesota BCA to obtain your permit to carry Additional topics of discussion will include: - Pistol Fundamentals and Safety - Firearm & Ammunition Selection - Firearm Retention - Explosives - De-escalation Techniques & Survival Mindset - Expanded MN Use of Force Law Topics - Interactions with Law Enforcement - Violent Encounters and Aftermath - Basic Malfunction Clearing Techniques Each student will be required to complete and pass a 30 Round Shooting Course, and must obtain a 70% accuracy or higher to pass. Students will shoot one at a time and away from the rest of the class. The shooting course will consist of the following: 10 rounds: Two handed from 5 yards 10 rounds: Two handed from 15 yards 5 rounds: One handed (strong) from 15 yards 5 rounds: Two handed from 25 yards The student will also demonstrate to the instructor proper loading and unloading techniques of the firearm. They will also have to demonstrate the proper technique for clearing a malfunction. Cost: $100.00 per person $90.00 Couples per person If you recruit another person to attend the same class, you and that person will each get $10.00 off the $100.00 class fee. Students need to bring the following: 1. Pistol 2. 30 rounds of ammunition 3. Proper Eye protection 4. Proper Hearing protection 5. Positive Attitude 6. List of questions to ask. A lot of students are not sure what firearm is right for them to carrying and therefor do not have a firearm for this class. Do not worry or let that discourage you from taking this class. Firearm selection is a topic that is discussed in great detail and many students want to complete the course before purchasing their first firearm. If a student does not have a pistol and/or ammunition to shoot for the class, please contact Markus Murphy prior to the class and the proper arrangements will be made and one will be provided for you at no cost to the student.
