Gravel Ridge Firearms LLC offers a beginning AR15 Rifle course at your request. The beginning Rifle course is designed for a person who has never fired a Rifle before, or a person who is not confident in their shooting ability. In this course, you will learn the proper fundamental shooting techniques to ensure accurate target placement and the confidence needed to operate their firearm in a stressful situation. Each class will run 4 hours, and each student will shoot 300-500 rounds. Students will learning the following Objectives: M16/AR15 Operation Instruction: 1. Introduction to the M16/AR15 A. Student will be taught and have to know the different parts of the rifle. B. Student will be taught and have to know the mechanics of the rifle. C. Student will be taught and have to know how to field strip and clean the rifle. D. Student will have to demonstrate to the instructor his/hers ability to field strip and reassemble the rifle. E. Student will be taught how to correctly hold the rile while shooting from different positions (standing, kneeling, prone) F. Student will be taught the correct sight alignment when shooting from fixed sights. G. Student will be taught and have to know how to load and unload the rifle. H. Student will be taught and have to demonstrate to the instructor his/her ability to correctly clear different malfunctions. I. Student will be taught how to correctly maintain the rifle. J. Student will be taught and have to demonstrate to the instructor the correct use of the three point sling. K. Student will be taught about the correct ammo used in the rifle and how the ammo moves once it is fired. L. Student will be taught and have to demonstrate to the instructor the correct form when transition from the rifle to handgun. Also, the student will be taught when and why an student would want to transition to their handgun. M. Student will be taught group patterns when shooting at different distances. N. Student will be taught the importance of the trigger pull when shooting at distances Use of Firearms in low light and adverse weather conditions: The Student will demonstrate the ability to deal with the special problems associated with the use of firearms in low light and in adverse weather conditions. Performance Objectives: The Student will demonstrate the ability to deal with the following problems associated with the use of authorized firearms in low light. o Muzzle flash o Target identification o Target accuracy The Student will demonstrate the ability to solve the following problems associated with adverse weather conditions. o Firearm malfunction o Firearm control o Use of gloves o Reduced mobility in drawing and firing the handgun due to heavy clothing o Limitations of access to handguns due to heavy outer clothing o Impact of cold weather reducing motor functions of the extremities M16/AR15 Familiarizing/Practice Shoot 1. .223 rounds fired at targets of varied distance Does the student observe the dispersal of rounds that result from shooting at target of varied distances? Does the student understand the importance of the trigger pull when shooting at different distances? 2. Student practices firing the rile, and then transitions to their handgun. Does the student understand the importance of muzzle control and transition in a safe manner? Here is an example of what a class will look like: M16/AR15 Qualifying Shoot: 1. Close Encounter Shooting (10 Yards) 2. Medium Range Shooting (25 Yards) 3. Long Rang Kneeling Shooting (75 Yards) 4. Prone Shooting (100 Yards) 5. Transition Shooting (15 Yards) M16/AR15 Course of Fire: 50 Total Rounds The student must shoot 70% efficiency to pass. Stage 1: 10 Rounds Target at 10 Yards: The student safety loads the rifle and come to a low ready stance. At command, the student will come on target and shoot two round on semi-auto mode. The student will do repeat this five (5) times. Stage 2: 10 Rounds Target at 25 Yards: The student safety loads the rifle and come to a low ready stance. At command, the student will come on target and shoot two round on semi-auto mode. The student will do repeat this five (5) times Stage 3: 10 Rounds Target at 75 Yards: The student will safety load the rifle. The student will get into a kneeling position and come to the low ready stance. At command, the student will come on target and shoot two round on semi-auto mode. The student will do repeat this five (5) times Stage 4: 10 Rounds Target at 100 Yards: The student will safety load the rifle. The student will get into a prone position. At command, the student will come on target and shoot two round on semi-auto mode. The student will do repeat this five (5) times Stage 5: 10 Rounds Target at 15 Yards: The student safety loads the rifle and come to a low ready stance. At command, the student will come on target and shoot two round on semi-auto mode and then transition to their handgun and shoot two rounds center mass and one round to the head. The student will do repeat this five (5) times Proper Cleaning and Maintenance of the M16/AR15 Student breaks down the rifle and cleans it. The instructor will inspect the rifle for job satisfaction. The student will then have to reassemble the rifle while the instructor looks on, assisting the officer when needed. Students need to bring the following: 1. Rifle 2. Working Sling 3. 2 Magazines 4. 300-500 rounds of ammunition 5. Handgun with working holster. 6. 50 rounds of Handgun ammunition. 7. Proper Eye protection 8. Proper Hearing protection 9. Positive Attitude 10. List of questions to ask. To host a class you must have a minimum of 5 students, a location to host the classroom portion of the class (with electricity), and a safe location for shooting.
